By using this site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the services. We may update this page; the date above will change when we do.
What we’re building
Our goal is a trusted place to learn about perfumes and—where available—see how others experience performance, fragrance notes, longevity, projection, and fit for different occasions. Some features are editorial today; community reviews and rankings may roll out over time. This policy covers data practices for both reading the site and any future tools that let you post content or create an account.
Information we collect
- Browsing & technical data. Like most sites, we receive data your browser sends (for example IP address, browser type, general location derived from IP, pages viewed, and timestamps). We use this to run the site securely, fix errors, and understand aggregate usage.
- Cookies & similar technologies. We and our partners may use cookies, local storage, or pixels to remember preferences, measure traffic, and (where enabled) support advertising.
- What you send us. If you email us, use a contact form, subscribe to a newsletter, or sign up for an account, we collect the information you provide (such as name, email address, and message content).
- Community content (when available). If you post a review, rating, comment, or profile information, we collect that content and related metadata (for example time posted, perfume page, and display name). Reviews may be public on the site to help other readers.
Advertising
We may show third-party ads (for example through Google AdSense). Those providers may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads. You can manage ad personalization and cookies through your Google account and your browser settings. See Google’s policies for how they process data.
How we use information
- Operate, secure, and improve Atlas of Scents.
- Respond to questions and support requests.
- Send newsletters or updates only if you have opted in (you can unsubscribe when we offer it).
- Display and moderate community content so reviews stay useful and respectful, as described in future terms or community guidelines.
- Comply with law and protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the public.
Sharing
We may share information with service providers who help us host the site, send email, or analyze traffic—only as needed for those services. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect Atlas of Scents, our users, or others. If we use ad partners, their use of data is governed by their policies and your choices with those partners.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Community posts may remain visible unless removed under our policies or by request where applicable.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Atlas of Scents is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Third-party links
Our pages may link to retailers, brands, or other sites. Their privacy practices are their own; please read their policies before sharing data there.
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, or to object to processing. To make a request, contact us (see below). We will respond as required by applicable law.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and adjust the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
